Dr. Heber Simmons

Dr. Simmons and his wife, whose name is Sister, have been married for over 60 years and have 2 children, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and another one on the way!


In May of 2017, Dr. Simmons was honored when an Endowed Professorship in Pediatric Dentistry was created in his name at the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, the first time this has been done for someone in private practice in the United States.  Additionally,

Dr. Simmons was named one of Mississippi’s Health Care Heroes by the Mississippi Business Journal in 2017.


Dr. Simmons has served as the Congressional Liaison for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry since 1997 and travels to Washington, D.C. in regard to the Academy’s advisory efforts to provide care for the underprivileged children of our country.  Heber is a Past President of the Mississippi Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, serves on the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, is a member of the Mississippi Dental Association, the American Dental Association and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Additionally, he was awarded both the Distinguished Service Award and the Ann Page Griffin Humanitarian Award by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
